L’Horloge de Flore – A flower for every hour
L’Horloge de Flore is a French perfume house founded in 2014 by Hélène Prévot. The house draws inspiration from Carl von Linné’s floral clock, with 12 different scents reflecting the 12 hours during which various flowers are at their most fragrant.

Before founding L’Horloge de Flore, Hélène Prévot worked as a freelance perfumer for many years, until her desire for independence and a closer connection with the wearers of her creations led her to establish her own house. Her DNA, however, has always been clear: “For many years, patchouli was my signature – I used it everywhere. Even today, it is rare for me to create a fragrance without it.” The most underrated notes, in her view, are green notes. “They are often considered difficult to wear and remain among the least used in perfumery. It is such a shame, and for that reason, I will soon be launching a floral green fragrance.”

If she were to sum herself up as a scent, she says it would be full of character and surprises – sensual yet at the same time gentle. “In many ways, my brand’s perfumes embody the different facets of my personality. Depending on my mood, they become a perfect reflection of who I truly am.” Prévot explains. “Behind the brand lies the desire to tell stories, to capture attention, and to invite people into my universe of dreams, memories, and aspirations.” She describes one of her best scent memories to be a fragrance owned by her great-grandmother: “ It was a delicate muguet scent. I kept that bottle for years, and I am sure it is still somewhere, even though it now stands empty. It had no name, yet I remember its fragrance as vividly as if it were yesterday.”

Her inspiration is found anywhere – often in people she meets, in nature, or in raw materials themselves: “ I can spend years exploring a single ingredient, pushing it in every possible olfactive direction, until it naturally gives way to another muse.”

When the fragrances come to life, it happens through a natural process. “Each creation has its own rhythm and is deeply personal to me,” she explains. The process is iterative, as she explores raw materials, smells, combines, creates trials, and adjusts until the creation is finished: each scent in which her own character shines through. Her nose has guided her since she was young, and scent continues to be central to her life – “I honestly wouldn’t know how to do anything else,” she says. “Perfumery is part of my soul, my very being.”
