Akro – Addictive Fragrances

Meet Akro – the perfume house celebrating the irresistible delights in life, through scent. Akro was founded by the father-and-daughter duo Olivier and Anaïs Cresp, and has deep roots in the French perfume tradition. An icon in the perfume world, Olivier Cresp is behind some of the most well-known fragrances of our time, such as Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana and Angel by Mugler.

The story of Akro began while Anaïs Cresp was living in London. She lived in the vibrant area of Ladbroke Grove, a neighborhood immersed in culture and individuality. Living there, she was quickly captivated by the scents surrounding her: flowers, coffee, grilled food, whisky, leather, and cannabis. Soon, the idea of capturing these scents as perfumes took shape, and she turned to her father, Olivier, to bring the daydream to life. Out of that, Akro was born – a house that, ever since, has created fragrances inspired by our surroundings, our everyday addictions, and the dreams we hold close.

Olivier is the nose behind the creations of the house. He grew up among rose and jasmine fields in Grasse, which, even today, gives him some of his favorite scent memories. Now, he makes perfumes to make people happy, motivated by the desire to create something new. Inspiration for his fragrances can strike at any time – anything from a journey to a moment with the morning paper can spark an idea, which is then refined until the finished scent is ready.

Olivier describes the DNA of his scents as minimalist: he uses only few ingredients in his perfumery, often respecting three olfactive facets to make up the fragrance. He highlights ambroxan as a particularly underrated note: “It’s very interesting for the nuances it brings, that cannot be found in nature”, he explains. If Olivier were to describe himself as a scent note, however, he says it would be citrus: “Eau Sauvage by Dior or Haze from Akro.”
