Attar Al Has: “Every fragrance is a journey, and we aim to make each one unforgettable.”

Attar al Has is a house where the wings of history meet the present in captivating fragrances, where the passion for craftsmanship is more than clear. Ersin Bas and Karin Vinchon-Spencer founded the house, based in Istanbul and Paris. 

The rich perfume traditions of the Middle East are at the heart of Attar Al Has, and they describe that the past is a large part of the inspiration behind the fragrances – the opulence of the Ottoman Empire, the mystery of the Silk Road, and the history of the exclusive raw materials are a constant source of inspiration. “Perfume is a powerful storyteller—it evokes emotions, memories, and cultural heritage. With Attar Al Has, I wanted to bridge the rich traditions of oriental perfumery with modern innovation,” they say: “Our driving force is excellence, crafting sophisticated, high-quality fragrances that offer a timeless and luxurious experience.” They describe their DNA as warm, long-lasting, and full-bodied: “It’s luxury in its purest form.”

Ersin and Karin recall when they first encountered the enchanting scent of pure oud in a Middle Eastern market: “It was a revelation of timeless elegance and mystery,” they say. And it’s clear that the experience has left its mark: when we ask them to describe themselves as a fragrance, they return to oud – this time in the company of amber and saffron: “bold, refined, and full of depth.”

When the duo goes from idea to finished fragrance, it starts with a story: an image of a place, a time, or a feeling. Then they work with prominent perfumers, who bring the concept to life. “Every fragrance is a journey, and we aim to make each one unforgettable.”
