Cedar
Cedar is a soft, woody note that is often perceived as refined, timeless, and elegant. Many find that it brings to mind the scent of pencil shavings or woodwork workshops! In perfumery, Atlas Cedar (from Morocco) or Virginia Cedar (from the USA) are most commonly used, with Atlas Cedar generally perceived as fuller and creamier, and Virginia Cedar as more austere and dry. Many synthetic woody notes have facets of cedar, for example Iso E Super. Cedar is often found among the base notes.
